What is an AT-NEED Policy?

An AT-NEED Policy refers to arrangements made when the need arises, usually during a time of loss. This means memorial services, burial arrangements, and memorial lots are purchased immediately, rather than planned in advance.

AT-NEED arrangements are often chosen when a family has not secured a pre-need plan and must make decisions quickly, while managing emotional and time-sensitive circumstances.

How AT-NEED Arrangements Work

When a family avails an AT-NEED policy, all necessary services and memorial lot selections are processed right away to meet the required interment schedule. Because these arrangements are urgent, terms and pricing differ from pre-need plans.

Important Details About AT-NEED Policies

1. Higher Cost Than Pre-Need

AT-NEED policies are priced higher compared to pre-need plans. Since the purchase is immediate and unplanned, no promotional or discounted rates apply.

2. One-Time Payment

All AT-NEED purchases require full payment in one transaction. Installment options are not available.

3. Strict Payment Deadline

Payment must be fully settled at least three (3) days before the date of interment to ensure proper documentation, preparation, and scheduling.

4. Use of Recently Purchased Pre-Need Lots

If a client purchased a pre-need memorial lot and uses it within 30 days from the date of purchase, the transaction will be reclassified as AT-NEED.

  • The lot will be charged at the AT-NEED price

  • The client must pay the full price difference between the pre-need rate and the AT-NEED rate

Why Understanding AT-NEED Matters?

Knowing how AT-NEED policies work helps families make informed decisions and avoid unexpected costs during an already difficult time. While AT-NEED arrangements provide immediate solutions, planning ahead through pre-need options offers better pricing, flexibility, and peace of mind.
